The Sledge With No Snow
Illustration in the queue. New spreads are drawn every week — join the list and you’ll see this one the day it’s inked.
“Grass is faster than snow. Nobody tells you that. Nobody tells you where it stops, either.”
It is the hottest day of the year, there is not a cloud in the sky, and we have a sledge. We are about to discover that dry, sun-scorched grass is much, much faster than snow. We are also about to discover what is at the bottom of Vicarage Hill.
“I think this... might be too fast.”
From the back cover
Who needs snow for sledging? On a baking summer's day on Vicarage Hill, a plastic sledge and a lot of nerve is all it takes.
It turns out that dry grass offers almost no friction at all. The speed is incredible. The only thing we have not quite worked out is how to stop. Or where we might land.
The grown-ups will scratch their heads. And they will never, ever know.
