Donuts On The Rec

“The grass was wet, the tyres were bald, and the park keeper had already gone home.”
The recreation ground is empty, the grass is wet, and we've just borrowed a car with very bald tyres. It is the perfect recipe for skids. We carve beautiful, muddy circles in the turf, the engine purring. Then, just as we complete a perfect figure-of-eight, we hear a sickening crunch from underneath the car.
“Round and round we went, until... BANG.”
From the back cover
There are days when trouble finds you, and days when you go looking for it in a borrowed hatchback. On the soggy turf of the rec, we become artists of the handbrake turn, painting the grass with mud. But just when our masterpiece is complete, a sound from the engine suggests our fun is over. The grown-ups remain blissfully unaware.
