The Bonfire Night Misfire

“The rocket went sideways, which is the one direction a rocket is not supposed to know about.”
It's the biggest rocket from the corner shop, a genuine monster of a firework that promises to light up the whole village. We stick it in a fizzy pop bottle and light the fuse, ready for the show. But instead of going up, it shoots sideways. And now it's heading straight for the crowd.
“Instead of going up, the rocket goes... sideways.”
From the back cover
Bonfire Night in Bramblewick is a serious business. The fire is huge, the toffee apples are sticky, and our prize rocket is the biggest one in the box. We've set it up perfectly. Almost.
When the fuse is lit, our masterpiece decides to take the scenic route. At head height. Through the assembled spectators.
Good job the grown-ups are all looking at the big fire, really.
