Cider In The Bus Shelter

“We were far too young. It tasted like apples and bad decisions, mostly the second one.”

An older brother has done the unthinkable and bought us a bottle of that strong cider from the off-licence. We find the perfect spot in the village bus shelter to conduct our taste test. The first sip is crisp, fizzy and tastes of glorious rebellion. The second... not so much. Is the bus shelter meant to be spinning?

It tastes like apples and bad decisions... mostly the second one.

From the back cover

In 1996, a bottle of strong white cider feels like a ticket to another world. We're probably too young, but we have it, and we're going to drink it. In the bus shelter, we unscrew the cap and take our first swig of forbidden apple nectar.

It tastes like magic and bad choices. Mostly bad choices.

Thank goodness our parents think we're just out playing.
