“The polytunnel was full of them. So were our pockets. So was the farmer's face.”
It is a hot summer afternoon, and the farmer's polytunnel is bursting with ripe, red strawberries. We fill our pockets, then our shirts, then our faces. But with hundreds of leftover strawberries and a big, white barn wall, the real fun is about to begin. Who will be the first to throw one?
“And on the count of three... we all start throwing.”
From the back cover
Down the back lane, a farmer has made a terrible mistake. He has left his polytunnel unguarded, and it is full to bursting with the most delicious strawberries we have ever tasted. We eat as many as we can stomach.
But what to do with the leftovers? That is when we spot the pristine, white wall of his barn. The grown-ups will just see a very messy wall. They will never know how it got that way.
